-Product Highlights

The In-Line Liquid Magnetic Trap – also widely recognized as a magnetic liquid filter, pipeline magnetic separator, sanitary liquid trap, magnetic strainer, or liquid iron remover — is a heavy-duty, pressure-rated stainless steel filtration unit engineered to remove ferrous contaminants from high-velocity liquid lines and slurry streams. Equipped with a concentrated array of high-intensity rare-earth magnetic rods, the trap safely intercepts sub-micron tramp metal, rust particles, and mechanical wear fragments across food, beverage, dairy, chemical, and pharmaceutical processing lines. The lid, handle, and magnetic rod array are welded together as a single removable cartridge, so lifting the lid draws the entire magnetic core out of the liquid path in one motion. Featuring quick-release sanitary tri-clamp and heavy-duty flanged eyebolt closure options, this fully passive system operates with zero electricity, high pressure tolerance, and exceptional ease of cleaning to deliver 99%+ separation efficiency.

Working Principle

Liquid enters the pressurized stainless steel housing and is directed past a multi-rod permanent magnetic core before reaching the outlet. Rather than running straight through, the inlet and outlet connections sit at offset positions on the housing, forcing the fluid to travel up and around the full length of the magnetic rod array instead of bypassing it — maximizing contact time between the liquid stream and the magnetic field. Ferromagnetic impurities and fine iron oxide debris are drawn out of the flow and locked securely onto the undersides of the magnetic rods. This holding force is strong enough to keep captured particles in place even under turbulent flow or high-velocity pressure surges, so purified liquid emerges downstream without re-contaminating the process line. Heavier non-magnetic debris that isn’t attracted to the rods settles by gravity into a lower chamber below the flow path, where it can be drained separately.

Structure and Materials

Every In-Line Liquid Magnetic Trap is precision-engineered for long-term sealing, pressure resistance, and hygienic compliance, with two closure configurations depending on line size and pressure:

  • Sanitary Tri-Clamp Style (Quick-Release): An ergonomic top handle paired with a quick-release band clamp lets operators lift out the entire magnetic core in one motion for fast, low-downtime manual cleaning — no tools required.
  • Heavy-Duty Flanged & Eyebolt Style: Built for high-pressure industrial lines or large-diameter pipelines, using ANSI/DIN flanges and heavy-duty swing eyebolts for a secure, leak-proof seal under demanding operating pressures. The lid-and-rod cartridge still lifts out as a single assembly.

The housing is built from seamless, heavy-gauge SUS304 or SUS316L stainless steel with continuous seam welding to eliminate pinhole defects and material traps. Internal and external surfaces are mirror-polished to Ra < 0.4 µm and designed in line with FDA and 3-A sanitary design principles (formal certification available on request, not currently held as a standing certificate). The internal magnetic assembly uses premium NdFeB rare-earth magnets sealed inside stainless steel tubes, delivering surface field strength up to 12,000+ Gauss. Standard housings also incorporate a lower settling chamber with a bottom drain port: non-magnetic sediment that isn’t captured by the rod array settles to the base of the housing by gravity and can be purged through the drain, giving the trap a secondary, passive layer of contaminant removal alongside its magnetic capture. Chamber depth and drain configuration can be adjusted on request for applications with heavier sediment loads.

Features and Technical Specifications

  • Surface Gauss rating: 8,000–12,000 Gauss standard, with custom high-intensity configurations available above 12,000 Gauss for micron-grade fine iron dust
  • Sealing: Food-safe Silicone, Viton, EPDM, or PTFE gaskets, selected based on chemical exposure and fluid temperature
  • Operating temperature: Standard up to 80°C; thermally stabilized configurations using high-temp NdFeB or SmCo magnets available up to 350°C for hot oil, syrup, or chocolate processing lines
  • Optional heating jacket: A water- or steam-circulated jacket can be fitted around the housing exterior as a bolt-on addition to the standard unit, keeping viscous or crystallization-prone liquids at process temperature as they pass through the trap rather than cooling and thickening inside the housing. Constructed from SUS304 stainless steel to match the housing grade.
  • Flow performance: Smooth vessel contours and calculated rod spacing maintain fluid passage with no significant pressure drop, even in viscous liquid lines

Key Advantages of MagnetGlobal Liquid Traps

  1. One-Motion Cleaning, No Tools Required — The integrated top handle and single-piece rod cartridge let operators lift out the entire magnetic core in one motion, exposing every captured particle for fast wipe-down and significantly reducing maintenance downtime compared to multi-rod disassembly designs.
  2. Full-Contact Flow Path — The offset inlet/outlet arrangement forces liquid around the complete rod surface rather than allowing a shortcut path past the magnets — the structural reason behind the system’s 99%+ separation efficiency under continuous flow.
  3. Zero Operating Cost — Powered entirely by permanent rare-earth magnets, the system runs 24/7 with zero electricity consumption, no control wiring, and no recurring filter cartridge replacement expense — separation continues uninterrupted even during a power outage.
  4. High Hydraulic Strength and Durability — Heavy-walled stainless steel construction withstands hydraulic pressure spikes, water hammer, and abrasive slurries without structural degradation, giving the trap a service life measured in decades.
  5. No Flow Resistance or Pressure Drop — Smooth vessel contours and calculated rod spacing ensure optimal fluid passage, preventing pressure drops or material clogs even in viscous liquid lines.
  6. Configurable for Demanding Thermal Applications — A bolt-on water/steam jacket option keeps crystallization-prone or viscous liquids running at temperature through the trap itself, so plants don’t need to route these lines around the separator to avoid cooling-related blockages.
  7. Dual-Stage Contaminant Removal — Beyond magnetic capture, the housing’s lower settling chamber lets heavier non-magnetic sediment drop out of suspension and collect at the base, where it can be purged through the bottom drain — catching contamination the magnetic field alone wouldn’t remove.
